Align Folders enables you to simply and quickly turn a chaotic mess like this:

into a neatly aligned filing system like this:

In short, it moves and resizes nested folders so that they have the same shape as their parent folder.
How do I use it?
Simply select the ‘Select a folder or volume’ command from the File menu and then use the standard ‘Open’ dialog box to select the name of a folder or volume. (‘volume’ generally means the same thing as disk.) Now click on the ‘Select’ button at the bottom of the dialog box and that’s it!
You will see a spinning cursor for a few seconds while the program works its magic. When this stops (and is replaced by the standard arrow cursor) you can quit from the program by selecting ‘Quit’ from the File menu. You will find that all of the folders within the folder or volume that you selected have been neatly aligned.
(If some of the folders in question are currently open when you run the program, you may have to close and reopen them before they take their new positions and shapes.)
